Weaving with Ivy (Hedera Helix) – Canadian Herb Conference
20 minute pre-record 2024 CHC

Weaving with Ivy (Hedera Helix)

Ivy (Hedera helix) is a plant with invasive capacities and has the potential to take over large areas of disturbed soil. Even where it grows natively, it has to be managed or else it will take down nearly anything in its path. In North America, this plant continues to be sold in nurseries and marketed in landscaping as a low maintenance ground cover. It spreads through its vines, and can even grow along concrete. Despite its audacity, it is a wonderful plant for creating with- to honour it after removing it, and to learn its medicine in energetic ways- abundance, new beginnings, resiliency, strength, and never giving up.

In this 20 minute workshop with Kaitlyn, you’ll learn how to work with Ivy as an art material. The way of working with this plant can be translated to many others, and working with this invasive can deepen your connection with nature in mindful and creative ways!
