Balancing Body, Mind, and Spirit: Holistic Strategies for Depression
This workshop offers a comprehensive perspective on depression that integrates both evidence-based understanding and traditional holistic views. Depression is not a single condition but a spectrum that may present as situational low mood, ongoing low-grade depression, or more severe episodes. These different expressions reflect a range of root imbalances, life circumstances, and individual constitutions.
We will examine the many ways depression can manifest, considering biological, psychological, social, and spiritual influences. Contributing factors such as physiology, stress, environment, and disconnection from meaning or purpose will be explored through the lenses of contemporary research as well as traditional frameworks of healing. This balanced perspective allows for a deeper understanding of depression’s complexity beyond standard diagnostic categories.
Participants will be introduced to supportive strategies including herbal medicine, nutrition, lifestyle practices, and spiritual tools. Specific botanicals and herbal actions that can be particularly helpful will be explored. Emphasis will be placed on compassionate, individualized care and the value of an integrative approach that honours both modern evidence and the wisdom of traditional practices to foster resilience and long-term healing.
