Neurodiverse Clients in Herbal and Aromatherapy Practice: Inclusion and Access
This workshop explores strategies for creating inclusive and supportive herbal and aromatherapy practices for neurodiverse clients, including autistic and ADHD individuals. Participants will learn how to set the scene for accessibility, from designing physical spaces to establishing welcoming, sensory-considerate environments. The session will cover tailoring intake forms, consultations, and client interactions to honour sensory sensitivities, personal preferences, and individual needs.
Participants will gain practical guidance on securing informed consent and fostering acceptance and collaboration in all stages of care. We’ll discuss how to design formulations, product plans, and treatment approaches that are accessible and meaningful for neurodiverse clients. Strategies will include incorporating client input on tastes, textures, and scents, and ensuring adherence to wellness plans through customization, understanding, and cooperative engagement.
By the end of this session, participants will be equipped to create herbal and aromatherapy practices that are inclusive, trauma-informed, and client-centered, supporting neurodiverse individuals with empathy, respect, and empowerment.
