With appreciation to Indigenous healers and teachers, my talk provides an overview of medicinal plant use in northwestern North America, identifying some notable medicine herbs and how they are applied. I also address some of the issues around the study of medicinal plants, including that some medicinal preparations are considered private knowledge. Finally, i will talk about passing on the knowledge and directions of future research on healing plants in this area.
