BSc FCPP Medical Herbalist & Phytotherapist
Alex is a medical herbalist/phytotherapist, lecturer, author and founder director of Living Medicine. She is the author of Root to Stem: a seasonal guide to natural remedies and recipes for everyday life (Penguin). For the past 25years, Alex has run the UK's only herbal teaching clinic in dermatology at Whipps Cross Hospital and for 20 years practised at Breast Cancer Haven, London. She is Co-Vice President of the College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy. Alex founded the charity Living Medicine to reskill people in using foods and herbs safely for everyday healthcare, and feed this into mainstream healthcare. Living Medicine's courses are run by experienced medical herbalists in in Chelsea Physic Garden, herbal gardens, community centres, and in collaboration with the NHS. Originally a TV producer, Alex then worked as an aromatherapist with clinics at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, and HIV and drug centres. Alex’s driving passion is discovering how life is designed at all levels. By reconnecting to each other, our rhythms, diverse foods and to nature, we nourish our body/mind functions and build resilience.
