Herb Farmers
Ilana Vanderweit (she/her) and Paul Wartman (he/him) farm together at Floreren Farm, located in Centrelea, Nova Scotia, on unceded Mi'kma'ki. Together, they grow medicinal herbs, as well as nursery nut and fruit trees, working with the land to nurture both ecological and community well-being. Ilana brings a background in human-environment relations (BA) and a deep commitment to exploring practical strategies for integrating personal and environmental health. Her path led her to herbalism and farming as ways to connect meaningfully with place and cultivate reverence for the living world, acts she sees as essential to healing both personal and social ecologies. Paul is a settler with European ancestry who works as both a creative facilitator and a farmer. His facilitation supports deepening relationships, advancing social justice, and developing intentional strategies for community care and connection. On the farm, Paul brings these values into practice by co-creating systems that nourish people and ecosystems alike. Together at Floreren Farm, Ilana and Paul are growing more than plants, they're cultivating a vision of reciprocal, grounded living rooted in care for the land and each other.
