Agaricus Muscarius and Hyperactivity
Most people recognize Amanita muscaria, also known as Fly Agaric, from fairy tales, folklore, or colourful illustrations. It’s the iconic red mushroom with white spots that captures the imagination. But beyond the stories, its medicinal uses have been largely overlooked, even as interest in mushroom medicine continues to grow.
This workshop takes a closer look at the healing potential of Amanita muscaria, especially for children with hyperactivity, ADD/ADHD, and other neurodevelopmental challenges. A detailed pediatric case will be shared to help explain how and when this unique mushroom may be helpful. The workshop will explore how Amanita can address both extremes – restlessness, impulsiveness, and emotional intensity, as well as withdrawal, insecurity, and dissociation.
While the main focus is on pediatric care, the workshop will also touch on Amanita muscaria’s broader uses, including support for immune conditions, diabetes, cancer, and even frostbite. Mythological and historical perspectives will offer additional insight into its place in traditional healing.
Drawing from both herbal and homeopathic traditions, this workshop offers a well-rounded and respectful exploration of this powerful and often misunderstood plant ally.
