This presentation goes beyond the romantic idea of CSH and into the real, lived experience of growing, processing, pricing, and delivering herbs to a community. We’ll explore what makes herbal CSAs different from vegetable CSAs, including the hidden labour of drying and medicine-making, the challenges of crop planning, and the physical and emotional toll this work can take if you’re not careful.

Topics include starting smaller than you think, pricing with integrity, managing burnout, packaging and storage surprises, legal and safety realities, and how to communicate clearly with members. We’ll also look at education as part of the offering — how much truly supports members, and when it becomes overwhelming.
