The Faces of Our Ancestors: A Relational and Integrated Approach to Psychiatric Illness, Intergenerational Trauma, and Plant Medicine
We are literally the face of our ancestors. We are the torch bearers and pioneers of the path forward for generations to come and responsible for the healing of what was left remnant by the people who came before us. Any unfinished business – be it emotional, mental, physical, or spiritual, is left for future generations to tend to. Something that the mainstream, allopathic model of care overlooks is the link between ancestral trauma and psychiatric illness. In this workshop, through heart-rooted science, personal and anecdotal stories, and Indigenous teachings, we will explore the interdependent and the interwoven relationship that plants and humans have shared since time immemorial. Throughout this exploration we will examine how this relationship can serve as a healing bridge to recovering from deeply seeded psychiatric illnesses such as bipolar, schizophrenia, anxiety, and depression.
Additionally, we will explore the medicine wheel in relation to how intergenerational trauma impacts us in the present moment through wounding within our collective ancestral psyche.
Lastly, we will discuss epigenetics and how plants and humans are genetically interwoven and the impact of that in working towards a more deeply healed outcome. We will transition through the exploration of our ancestral wounding towards what gifts can emerge as we heal those wounds and the resulting psychiatric instability within our ancestral lineages, across all timelines.
