BCIT Landing 2026 – Canadian Herb Conference

March 16-21, 2026 | BC Institute of Technology Good Manufacturing Processes Intensive

Join us for an immersive 6-day intensive on herbal quality control, processing, and manufacturing from field to farmacy.

Designed for herbal practitioners, growers, manufacturers, and advanced students, this hands-on training builds skills in botanical identification, GMP standards, quality assessment, and the complete herbal supply chain.

This immersive program includes 38 hours of in-person instruction with leading herbal educators. Participants will enjoy field trips to the UBC Herbarium, UBC Farm, and a professional herbal manufacturing facility, gaining valuable insight into the journey of plants from field to finished product.

You’ll experience lab-based learning at BCIT’s analytical laboratories and attend guest lectures from regulatory, academic, and industry experts who bring real-world perspectives to the classroom.

Practical training covers botanical identification (both macroscopic and microscopic), organoleptics and Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for herbal products, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) – a food safety and quality framework – and sustainable sourcing with a focus on supply chain ethics.

How quality standards shape the herbal supply chain - and your role within it.

Today’s herbal industry depends on more than good intentions and beautiful plants. It relies on verified identity, consistent quality, responsible sourcing, and clear documentation at every stage of the supply chain.

Whether you grow herbs, formulate products, work clinically, or are preparing for advanced practice, understanding what buyers, regulators, and quality control teams look for gives you a distinct advantage.

When you know the quality checkpoints and weak points in the supply chain, you can prevent costly mistakes before they happen.

For farmers, it means reducing rejected batches and strengthening relationships with manufacturers, and the ability to position your farm as a trusted supplier.

For manufacturers and product makers, it means protecting your brand and ensuring product integrity.

For practitioners, it means confidently evaluating the quality and safety of the products you formulate or recommend to your clients.

For advanced students, it means stepping into the field with real-world, industry-ready knowledge.

This training reveals the critical control points, common weak spots, and quality standards that shape modern herbal production – so you can work more skillfully, more confidently, and more competitively.
